Blue Diamond Elementary School
Established 1929
Welcome to the Parent Resource Page.
The faculty and staff at Blue Diamond Elementary School believe that education is the shared responsibility of the student, family, school, and community. We believe that strong partnerships can be developed through nurturing respect, sharing knowledge, supporting each partner’s role, collaborating on matters of importance, and by appreciating the contributions each partner makes to student achievement.
This section of our website is here to provide quick and easy access to important information for parents. We look forward to parental input on additional information you would like in this section.

Grade Reform
The Clark County School District (CCSD) is committed to student success by embodying the core values of equity, accountability, and high expectations for all students.
In an effort to reach goals set in Focus: 2024, CCSD’s five-year strategic plan, the Grading Reform Committee, composed of principals and members of various CCSD departments, in partnership with the Assessment, Accountability, Research, and School Improvement Division (AARSI) have led a grading reform initiative. The goal of these efforts is to ensure students’ grades more accurately reflect their knowledge and skills by minimizing the impact of non-academic factors by reporting these separately.
Students are still expected to meet deadlines and demonstrate appropriate behaviors; however, these actions will not be reflected in academic grades. Students will also have the opportunity to revise and/or retake assignments and tests to encourage continued academic growth in areas they may not have fully understood the first time. These changes will allow students to learn from mistakes and demonstrate mastery of content throughout the school year.
Attendance Guidelines
It is important that your child be at school on time each day. Please schedule appointments after school hours. A student is considered tardy when they are not physically present in the classroom at the start of the instructional day, 9:00 AM. Three tardies equal one absence and disqualify a student from receiving a perfect attendance award. Excessive tardies, absences, and early check-outs result in the loss of academic instructional minutes for your child. Students with excessive tardies and absences may be retained, deemed truant (NRS 392.130). Students attending Blue Diamond Elementary under the COSA provisions may be removed from the school if they have excessive absences and/or tardies.
Assembly Bill 195 English Learner Pupils and Parental Rights
Assembly Bill 195 amends provisions for English learner pupils and parental rights. To the extent practicable, parents must have qualified interpreters present during significant interactions with the school district. Please click the link for more information.
School Lunch Information
Because we have been designated Provision 2, all enrolled students at Blue Diamond ES are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch every day for no charge during the school year. No further action is required of you. Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application. Only breakfast and lunch meals will be free of charge; the purchase of a la carte items will require payment.
Birthday Celebrations
Blue Diamond school does not allow students or staff to bring food items into school for birthday celebrations. Furthermore, because we have students who have other types of allergies including allergies to specific materials used to make products, students may not bring in birthday bags to be handed out at school. Classroom teachers may continue to celebrate student birthdays at school with birthday crowns, stickers, and/or singing the Happy Birthday song.
Classroom celebrations
Blue Diamond school does not allow students or staff to bring in baked food items, items that may contain nuts or peanuts, eggs or items made with eggs, or other food products that may result in a student having an allergic reaction. With the assistance of CCSD Health Department, there is a list of approved food items that may be served during school celebrations. This list and an updated School Health and Safety Policy letter will be provided to families.
Please note that food products sold in the school's student store do not contain products containing peanuts, nuts, or eggs. The products sold in the student store comply with CCSD Policies. If your child has a food or other allergy, please notify the school nurse.
Volunteering
During the hours of 8:00 AM- 2:11 PM each visitor / volunteer will sign in at the front office and provide the office staff with a current photo identification (i.e. driver’s license or photo ID card). The Blue Diamond staff will verify that the name on the ID matches the school records. Specifically, any visitor wishing to have contact with students will need to be on the student data records. For this reason, please make sure that all your contacts are up to date throughout the school year! Visitors who are NOT entered on the student registration data forms (ccf705), WILL NOT be able to have contact with students at Blue Diamond. Visitors will receive a Blue Diamond Visitor’s badge. The visitor will display the badge as he/she visits the school and return the Blue Diamond Visitor’s badge to the office upon leaving campus. Click Here to contact us if you have any questions.
